HEALING THROUGH CREATIVE EXPRESSION

1:1 Support

Creating art helps decrease heart rate, reduce pain, and reduce depression, stress, and anxiety symptoms. Art helps stimulate brain function, increase self-worth, and improve self-awareness, emotional regulation, and mood.

In addition, in combination with other modalities of talk therapy, art-making has shown evidence of helping people gain insight into problem behaviors, challenge self-deprecating thoughts, and change habits. These are all benefits of art therapy, which marries art-making with talk therapy.

Individual Art Therapy Sessions

During individual art therapy sessions, you can work one-on-one with me as I provide the energetic space you need to heal.

At Wholly Beautiful, the client is the expert on their own life and history. They have truths that inform who and how they are today. The art therapist is an expert in coping skills, art directives, and reflecting the client’s story as an observer and witness.

As the art therapist, I approach your story with compassion and non-judgment. I reflect on what you share through imagery and words. I present questions in ways that lead to curiosity and insight, gradually challenging current perspectives and habits.

  • Sessions run about 55 minutes long at $125 per session. Though we are not in-network with any insurance companies, many clients submit their invoices and get reimbursed through their insurance companies.

HEALING ROOTED IN FAITH AND GUIDANCE

Christ-Centered Counseling

Safe Space

Multiple Sessions

Growth

Well-intentioned advice doesn’t solve the problem.

You believe in the power of God and the Holy Spirit. Your faith is vital, but so is your anxiety.

When you reached out to friends and family for support, it was the same response: “Stay in the Word.” “Lean not into your understanding.” “The Lord is your strength.”

Their responses have made you hide how you feel – like a phony and hypocrite now more than ever.

Sometimes, we need to search beyond verses.

The responses you heard from your friends and family are valid, but you are human. And though each of these statements may be true, life is more complex than a single verse.

You are not a sovereign being like Jesus. Even though you do the “right things,” you still feel confused or lost in an often unforgiving world.

On the other hand, Christ loves you for you, every part of you. He knows that your whole is greater than the sum of the parts. You don’t have all the answers or questions, and that’s ok!

He is not asking for your perfection. If you were perfect, you wouldn’t need Him. Christ is a healer, and He doesn’t want to see humans suffer. Therefore, seeking a helping hand beyond to ease your suffering is Biblical (think of the good Samaritan)..

HEALING ROOTED IN FAITH AND GUIDANCE

Christ-Centered Coaching

Safe Space

Solution-Focused

Direction

A safe and supportive space to address emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges through a faith-based lens.

By integrating biblical principles with therapeutic techniques, this coaching approach helps individuals find peace, purpose, and healing in alignment with their faith.

A Typical Life Coaching Session

Sessions are generally 55 minutes, and I work a lot on self-care routines with my clients. Below, you will see an outline of a typical life-coaching session.

In addition, we can plan longer sessions to address bigger, long-term goals. We can break down things into smaller, more manageable steps, but generally, this process takes place over a series of sessions.

  1. The client comes prepared with 1-3 topics to discuss.

  2. The session begins with check-in on any previous session goals.

  3. We celebrate previous achievements and re-evaluate any unmet goals with growth strategies.

  4. We discuss new goals. Sometimes, there is a specific outcome at the end of the session. Other times, the session involves strategizing and setting up a plan for goals outside of the session.

  5. There is a mid-point check to ensure the client is on track for her desired outcome. We move through topics until the end of the session.

  6. At the end of the session, we review goals and outcomes, and the client leaves with a plan in hand for current goals.

HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION THROUGH EMDR

EMDR Therapy

Transformation

Foster Healing

Growth

Have you ever felt stuck in a loop, where past experiences – even old ones – still trigger intense emotional reactions in your present? Maybe it's a feeling of anxiety when a certain situation arises, or disproportionate anger, or a sense of dread that just won't shake. If so, you're not alone, and there's a powerful, research-backed therapy that can help: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy.

Learn more

What Exactly is EMDR?

At its heart, EMDR is a psychotherapy approach that helps your brain naturally heal from the distress of traumatic or disturbing life experiences. Think of it like this: when something really upsetting happens, our brain sometimes doesn't process it completely. It gets "stuck" in a raw, unprocessed state, holding onto the original sights, sounds, feelings, and thoughts of that event. This is why a memory from years ago can still feel incredibly vivid and distressing today, as if you're reliving it.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often side-to-side eye movements, but sometimes tapping or tones) while you gently focus on these disturbing memories. This unique process helps your brain to essentially "unstick" these memories. It's thought to mimic what happens during REM sleep, when your brain naturally processes experiences. As your brain engages in this rhythmic stimulation, those distressing memories begin to lose their emotional charge. They are reprocessed and stored in a way that feels neutral, like any other memory from your past.

The Benefits: Moving Forward with Freedom

The magic of EMDR is in how it helps you move from being re-activated by past events to simply remembering them. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Emotional Regulation: One of the biggest benefits is a significant improvement in your emotional responses. When past experiences are properly processed, your brain no longer perceives them as an immediate threat in the present. This means less intense anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness in situations that used to trigger you.

  • Leaving the Past in the Past: EMDR doesn't erase memories, but it helps them reside where they belong – in your past. You gain perspective and distance from the distress, allowing you to respond to current situations based on what's happening now, not on old wounds.

  • Reduced Symptoms: It's incredibly effective for reducing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, and even chronic pain linked to trauma.

  • Increased Self-Worth & Confidence: As old burdens are released, many people experience a newfound sense of peace, clarity, and self-acceptance.

  • A "Whole-Brain" Approach: This therapy taps into your brain's natural healing abilities, providing a powerful and lasting shift in how you experience the world.

Is it a Little... Weird? Yes! Is it Worth It? Absolutely!

Let's be honest: the idea of moving your eyes side-to-side or tapping your knees while thinking about something difficult might sound a little strange at first. And yes, for some, the process can feel a bit unconventional. But EMDR isn't about magic; it's about neuroscience and tapping into your brain's inherent capacity for healing.

The vast amount of research and countless success stories from people who have transformed their lives through EMDR speak volumes. It requires commitment, and sometimes patience, but the freedom and peace you can gain from leaving those heavy past experiences where they belong – in the past – is profoundly liberating.

If you're ready to explore a powerful path to healing and greater emotional regulation, EMDR might just be the life-changing tool you've been looking for. It's a journey, and we're here to guide you every step of the way.
